1. What is a Railgate?
A Railgate is a tailgate party aboard private railroad cars and coach cars before home UT football games.
2. Are they stationary?
Yes. The cars are parked on Neyland Drive and Lake Loudon Blvd near Thompson Boling Arena in the shadows of Neyland Stadium
3. Who owns the cars?
The cars are owned by Gulf & Ohio Railways, a family owned shortline railroad business.
4. Are these cars used on the Three Rivers Rambler excursion train?
Yes.
5. Who provides the catering?
Catering is provided by catering companies. Three Rivers Rambler and G&O Railways do not offer catering but we do work with caterers experienced with working on rail cars.The menu items and drinks are between the caterer and customer.
6. What about alcohol?
Alcohol is allowed in moderation. We reserve the right to limit serving alcohol to individuals. Alcohol is not allowed off the premises.
7. What time should I expect a Railgate to start?
Times for Railgates will depend on kick-off time.
8. Are there restrooms?
Yes, there are limited restroom facilities.
9. Is smoking allowed?
No. We want you and your guests to have a good time, but we remind you these are private antique cars and need to be treated delicately.
10. Is parking included?
No. There are no parking spaces included with Railgates.
12. Is security provided?
Yes. Security is provided during Railgate hours.
13. Can I schedule a tour?
Please call our office (865) 524-9411 to arrange an appointment to meet at the train so you can see exactly where to park, meet, and board. The train is parked on Neyland Drive on Volunteer Landing. |
